Entire country was shocked after seeing the news channel on 9th December, 2011. Fire engulfed one of the famous hospitals in Kolkata and many patients died due to burn injuries and due to suffocation in smoke. AMRI hospital is available in the crowded and congested streets of Kolkata. By early morning at around 3AM fire broke out from the basement of the building. Since many patients were on deep sleep, many died without even knowing that fire has engulfed them. Source of the fire is still unknown, but by the evening of the same day, 90 bodies were recovered. None of the people in the hospital expected that such a horrible incident will occur that too in the midnight. It seems local people were not allowed to go in to rescue people else, the number of deaths would have reduced. Also some complains came from few set of people that fire fighters arrived the spot late and so fire went out of control. By Friday night, the fire was still burning in the hospital as lots of combustible materials were there. Also fire fighters are trying their level best to dose the fire before the fire reaches the oxygen cylinders in the hospital. If fire reaches the cylinders, a big accident will occur. Hope everything is dosed off before that.
