When India is preparing itself to celebrate India’s first ever literature festival, controversy is parallel increasing over Rushdie’s visit to India. Indian crowds are against his visit as he has hurt most of the Indians mind in a book authored by him. Mainly Muslims are against his visit to India. Being a person from Muslim background, he himself faces lots of protest in coming to his home country. Initially Muslim groups in India were asking the Government of India to reject his Visa which will make him sit out of the country. But later we came to know that he has citizenship in two countries and hence he need not have a visa in order to enter India. After coming to know about this, Muslim organizations pressing government to somehow stop the entry of Rushdie. At the same time literature festival organizers are pressing the Government of India to allow Rushdie to address the meeting and also asked the government to provide protection for Rushdie as many groups are against his visit. Government could not support both the groups as anyone has to compromise in this. Let’s wait and watch what happens in this.
